The W.N.R.D.A Team

The West Norfolk RDA is a registered charity, run by a small group of trustees, who are responsible for the management of the centre. However to ensure the smooth day to day running of the Magpie Centre two members of staff are employed…

We also have a number of volunteers who give up their free time to instruct riders, lead or walk with riders or generally help out around the stables. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer why not fill out our online application form.




Mel - Centre Manager/Senior Instructor/RDA Whip

Mel Tomlinson - WNRDA centre manager

Mel, the centre manager joined the Magpie Centre in 2007, having formerly taught as an Adult Education Tutor and Freelance riding Coach.

Mel has ridden since a child, has BHS stages 1, 2 & 3 and PTT, Is on the BHS register of Instructors ,Is an accredited BHS Riding and Road Safety Trainer and Safegaurding Child Protection Presenter , has relevant Equine Specific first aid and child protection qualifications and is registered as a sports coach , UKCC level 3.

She thoroughly enjoys all aspects of teaching and is qualified as an RDAI and  instructs and carriage drives.

Mel also has her own horses and she regularly competed in Endurance riding events and showing , until her re-location to Norfolk.

Rob - Yard Assistant/Groom

Rob joined the team in 2011 having formerly worked in studs , dressage yards and a career in Equine Dentistry .
Rob has NVQ 1 and 2 Horse management and is working his way through the BHS pathway to gain his AI and related stages.
Rob coaches riders on a Tuesday and is training to be a Whip.



Caroline Dudley - Group Instructor

Caroline Dudley - Friday morning instructor

Caroline teaches at the centre on a Friday morning and is an RDA Group instructor.
Caroline holds BHS stages 1 & 2  & BHS Riding and Road Safety, PTT and UKCC level 2 with a specilism in RDA Riding.

Caroline has a busy lifestyle working from home and looking after her own horses.



Pauline Stock - Group Instructor

Pauline also volunteers at the centre and qualified as an RDA Group Instructor in 2004.

Pauline currently shares the Monday group with Mel, teaching children with special needs.

She has a horse of her own and helps with fund raising.





Zara - Groom/Yard Assistant/RDA Whip

Zara  helps on the yard , holds her Volunteer Certificate and NVQ Level 1 in Horse care, BHS Riding and Road safety Certificate and BHS stage 1,  and is working towards gaining further BHS qualifications. Zara is an RDA Whip and regularly carriage drives.
Zara competes her own horses at riding Club level and also competes for RDA .
