Winter always takes its toll on the Centre’s funds, with extra hay and rugs required for the 12+ horses and ponies in the care of West Norfolk Riding for the Disabled Association, based at the Magpie Centre, Wallington Hall, plus carriage driving lessons can be suspended because of bad weather.
This could be your chance to catch up with friends you haven’t seen for a while, plus raise money for a worthy cause.
How you run it is your choice: maybe a modest charge for admission, and/or a price for tea/coffee/cakes, or possibly a Bring and Buy, in which visitors bring, for example, baked goods, jams, chutneys, etc. for sale, the profits from which go to the Magpie Centre.
You might also decide to run a raffle or tombola, which could boost your profits considerably, but don’t forget to get a float so you can give people change.
We are aiming for 100 Coffee Mornings, throughout West Norfolk, Wisbech, Fakenham and Ely and if each one made even £20 – that would be £2,000 – which equals 500 bales of hay for our ponies – so if you could host one, need advice on how to do it, or need posters/flyers printed, we can help.
